Foundation Of The Native American Organizations NYC

By Essie Osborn

In what is known as the United States in the current day there used to be some diverse tribes that used to exist as intact political groups. These people were made up of the ethnic people of Alaska and Hawaii. The formation of the Native American organizations NYC was done to address the problems of these innate inhabitants also known as Native Indians.

For a long time before the 15th century these people used to be the only residents of United States until the first European inhabitants decided to visit the shores of North America. These people came with their horses which led to an outbreak of some diseases e. G. Measles and chicken pox. The indigenous people lacked the proper medicines to treat themselves and vaccines to secure the healthy ones. This led to the death of a significant number of the residents leaving their lands to the Europeans. They later settled and started their lives there.

Despite the fact that the indigenous people used to make up the majority of America, they now hold only 1.4 percent of the populace. The remaining number lives in some reserved areas and they still exercise their cultural activities from way back in the past. A national museum was started in 2004 in Washington in order to preserve this culture and also spread word about it.

Several associations have been founded overtime in order to protect and secure the rights of intrinsic inhabitants. There is also a month that is set aside to recognize the culture of innate inhabitants. Some of these organizations are as listed below.

The American Indian Business Leaders is a non-profit organization that promotes the education and development of these indigenous citizens. This organization does this while at the same time maintaining their cultural values.

There is also a college fund association that assists the natives to pay for their education up to the higher education level. Some are offered with the tuition fee help while others receive complete scholarships. The funds also used to preserve culture in educational institutions. There is also a bar association that helps the people working in the law related careers. These people include the attorneys, judges or law students. The organization helps to benefit them professionally.

There is also a grass root art organization whose sole responsibility is to preserve the culture of native inhabitants. This association was formed in 1994 in order to recognize the indigenous artists and to educate the general public about their values through activities like songs, dance, art and crafts.

The above are only but a few of the very many associations that have been founded in order to help the indigenous citizens. They all have a particular goal in common which is to safeguard their culture and make it known to the general public. They are divided to help people from different dockets like telecommunication, journalism, medicine and others. This particular culture is believed to be kept and maintained for future generations.
